Thinking and acting as ‘Geographers’ has been a focus for this term’s learning in Geography for pupils in year 1, therefore this week, they continued to use fieldwork to investigate the human and physical features of our local area. They learnt that our local area includes both built and natural environments. They identified that the area immediately around the school is residential and that a community needs shops, schools, GP surgeries, places of worship as well as good transport links. They also walked to Wanstead Flats to experience a natural environment in contrast to the bustle of the High Street. We were very impressed that all pupils were able to walk to Manor Park Station sensibly and mightily relieved that all classes managed to escape the torrential rain. Well done to our intrepid explorers!
