Commonwealth Guildhall Concert

On Thursday 14th July four children from Year 5 travelled all the way to London to sing at a performance at the Guildhall as part of the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee Celebrations.  They sang with four other schools which formed the Commonwealth Youth Choir. They performed magnificently and sang beautifully.  One song was called ‘A Song for the Commonwealth’ and the other was entitled ‘The Commonwealth Anthem’. The latter tune was a unique experience as they were joined by the Commonwealth Scholars’ Choir and were accompanied by the Band of the Coldstream Guards.  One child said, “It was a great chance to show our keenness of singing together outside of school.”  Another child reported that it had been a really good experience; although she was really nervous, singing together gave her the confidence to sing out loud.  This opportunity will definitely provide many happy memories for years to come and an experience that will never be forgotten.
