Essex Primary Remembers – Manor Park Library and Newham Cenotaph

Two representatives from our School, along with Stephen Timms MP, Councillor Dawood, Councillor Jennifer Bailey and an array of schools from Manor Park paid homage to the fallen heroes of our community. Poems and stories were sensitively performed during the event to mark this important part of history. The poems and stories were written by Lesley Soloman, a local resident. Our pupils respectfully retold the true story of the Bethnal Green Tube Disaster, 1943.

As a school, we commemorated all those who have fought in various wars to keep our country safe. The school council represented our school in a tremendous way by being ambassadors at the Armistice Memorial event at the Newham Cenotaph. The pupils participated in laying wreaths in respect for those who sacrificed their life for peace. Throughout this trip, pupils began to reflect about the different countries who have experienced war and how others have fought for peace. So as a community let’s reflect on the goodness and peace that we experience in this country.
