Junior Citizens

On Monday 13th November, Year 6 attended Junior Citizens. This is a programme organised in partnership with the Metropolitan Police and hosted by Tate & Lyle.  The pupils were split into mixed groups and all participated in a range of simulated emergency situations. They experienced issues first hand as volunteers from a range of companies and agencies set up interactive displays, including the London Fire Brigade who led a session on how to deal with a fire in the home and TfL who ensured pupils knew how to use public transport safely in London. By the end of the programme session, the pupils experienced how to deal with a range of issues and emergencies including explosions, house-fires, drowning, internet safety, drugs and gangs. Groups earned points for good listening and the correct answering of questions, with the winning group being awarded medals. All pupils represented our school very well, demonstrating effective listening, appropriate behaviour and a huge amount of learning which will set them up for the next step in their lives.
