Year 5 Visit to the Gurdwara

This week, year 5 visited the Darmesh Darbar Gurwara in Manor Park.  This was an exciting opportunity for our pupils to experience a different religious setting.  They learnt about how to develop respect for the Holy Book, the teachings of Sikhism and the practices of day to day life.  An aspect of their religion is to provide and offer free food for those people in need.  One pupil said that he learnt that everyone is welcome at the Gurdwara and can eat free food there.  Also, it is important to cover your head as a sign of respect.   Another child commented, “I loved it!  The teacher told us all about Sikhism and about the Golden Temple.   We showed amazing respect by saying the Sikh welcome.”
